In-line with the Penang’s state government’s policy to promote STEM education to children across all communities, a special STEM discovery event was held recently for students of the Tamil community by Penang STEM, Tech Dome and PSDC.
The event was well-attended by up to 200 students from the Ramakrishna orphanage, SJK(T) Ramakrishna, SJK(T) Azad who enjoyed the half day event from 7.30am to 12.30pm.
Penang Deputy Chief Minister II, YB Jagdeep Singh Deo was invited as a VIP for the event, and had given an impactful speech during the opening ceremony to motivate students to venture into the field of STEM.
During the event, students of the STEM Futureproofing (SFP) Engineering Program were recognised for their participation in the two year program which was aimed at providing foundation learning in engineering.
The event was hosted by Ayira Vaisiyar Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple with lunch provided for the students, whereas the SFP Program was sponsored by Shan Poornam Metals, a locally-established recycling plant based in Prai.
Here at Penang STEM, we would like thank all the students for joining us on this memorable day. Besides that, we would also like to extend our appreciation to the temple and Shan Poornam Metals for their generous sponsorship, making this event a success.
