Penang STEM is the common platform to bring together the various independent STEM learning organizations in a coordinated way to jointly create a synergistic ecosystem in Penang.

HOW WE STARTED

Penang STEM was officially launched by former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in July 2017. For a glimpse of the official launch, check out the video on our “Kickstart” page. What, Why and Our Role

What is STEM?

STEM stands for Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics. Its approach is based on the idea of educating students in an interdisciplinary and hands-on/minds-on approach. Rather than teach these four disciplines as separate and discrete subjects, STEM integrates all these into a cohesive fun learning experience based on real world applications. Students are coached to apply their STEM knowledge, deepen their understanding and develop creative thinking skills. Participation in teams and project based learning further stimulates curiosity, problem solving and other human skills.
